Description
The NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to solicit information for the support of the GSFC Information Technology and Communications Directorate (ITCD, Code 700) to make decisions regarding development of strategies to provide a software redundancy solution for existing production systems located in the current containerized computing environment. The purpose of this notice is to identify any businesses including small businesses that possess the technical capability to provide support for the requirements as a Prime Contractor or Subcontractor. GSFC is looking for a software solution that provides data replication across two physical locations, utilizing five currently provisioned Dell C2100 servers for storage (120TB total capacity). GSFC will use the results of this RFI to determine the appropriate strategy for ensuring the requirements meet the operational need for data center redundancy within our containerized computing environment. GSFC utilizes a containerized computing environment, a forty foot customized shipping container set on a concrete pad/foundation. This container houses the core infrastructure for ITCDs business computing environment. Hardware: Inside the containerized computing environment there are eight 42U computer racks. 48 Dell C2100s: 2 x Intel Xeon CPU X5660 @ 2.80GHz, 6 cores 96 GB physical memory 2 x Gigabit Ethernet 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet 24 TB HDD (12 x 2.0 TB SATA) 8 Dell C1100s: 2 x Intel Xeon CPU X5660 @ 2.80GHz, 6 cores 72 GB physical memory 2 x Gigabit Ethernet 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet 4 TB HDD (4 x 1.0 TB SATA) 2 Dell R710: 2 x Intel Xeon CPU X5660 @ 2.80GHz, 6 cores 48 GB physical memory 4 x Gigabit Ethernet 4 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet 4 TB HDD (4 x 1.0 TB SATA) In addition to the internal storage for the individual servers detailed in the hardware section above, GSFC ITCD has deployed a NetApp Storage Area Network (SAN) appliance in the container. The SAN appliance is a NetApp model F3240A with 240 TB total: 4x600GB trays of 10Krpm SAS and 4xSATA trays of 7.5krpm 2TB SATA. Network Infrastructure: 8 Arista Networks 10GB 24‐port Ethernet switches 4 Dell PowerConnect 5448 48‐port Ethernet switches 2 Juniper EX2200 48‐port Ethernet switches 2 Force10 S4810P 10GB switches. Software and Applications: The replication or data synchronization should accommodate: Hyper-V virtual machines using Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 SP R2 Redhat virtual machines using Linux 6.2, 6.3, Ubuntu and CentOS 5.3 VMWare ESXi 5.3 Eucalyptus Applications will include at least: SQLServer 2005 and 2008 Oracle 11g MySQL Coldfusion 8 through 10 IIS and Tomcat BMC Remedy 8 and CLM Data Types: Most databases are used as pointers to data. Data types include text, Apple and Windows applications, Engineering files (such as those produced with Autocad), Visio, JPEG, PNG, and other image files. There is approximately 4 to 6 Terabytes of production engineering data created by the mission groups. All virtual machines, and data reside on the Netapp. Virtual machines use the C2100 RAM and CPU resources for computing. Technical and procurement questions should be directed to Contracting Officer Alexis Harris, Alexis.N.Harris@nasa.gov. It is requested that responses to the attached questions and capability statements be submitted by electronic mail to: Alexis Harris at alexis.n.harris@nasa.gov no later than 5:00 PM EST on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Interested offerors having the necessary specialized capabilities to meet our requirements outlined in the above paragraphs should submit a response to the attached questions along with a brief 300 word limit capability statement. The government requests interested parties submit a brief statement of capability / description of their company's business size (i.e. annual revenues and employee size), business status (i.e., 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zone, or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, etc.), for the applicable NAICS Code to be considered. It is emphasized that this RFI is for planning and information purposes only and is NOT to be construed as a commitment by the Government to enter into a contractual agreement, nor will the Government pay for information solicited. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Questions regarding this notice should be directed to the point of contact listed above.
