- Description
- NASA/JSC has a requirement for 2 6-Port Gigabit Ethernet PMC (one 1000 Base-CX and four 1000 BaseT + one Virtual Port) Series 100, Conduction Cooled, 0 degrees C to + 55 degrees C. This PMC card is a critical component to the success of a space-rated Ethernet communications project. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from AiTech Defense Systems, Inc. AiTech is the supplier of rugged computer systems optimized for the harsh space environment. AiTech's product is qualified to operate from -55 degrees C to +85 degrees C which demonstrate the ability to meet the unique requirements of the project. NASA/JSC is continuing the development of space-rated Ethernet communications using radiation tolerant mechanisms and hardware. Extensive development of software code has been written for the AiTech single board computer (SBC) using the Ethernet PMC cards. The PMC network cards are required to allow communication on and off the SBCs. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 10, 2013. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. [OMBUDSMAN STATEMENT IS REQUIRED] NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/pub_library/Omb.html.
