Description
On March 5th, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Program Executive Office (PEO) Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) PMS 403, Remote Minehunting System (RMS) Program Office will conduct Display and Briefing Sessions for the Remote Multi Mission Vehicle (RMMV) at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock (NSWC) Division ™s South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF), located on the south side of Port Everglades inlet at 91 North Beach Rd. Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. PEO LCS PMS 403 Program Office will provide a programmatic and top level technical briefing March 5th starting at 0900 at the Port Everglades Port Authority Administration Bldg. at 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale FL 33316, Conference Room #301. After the briefing, attendees will proceed to the NSWC SFOMF where an RMMV will be on display. The RMMV will also be on display at NSWC SFOMF again on March 6th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The technical briefing will only be given on March 5th. All interested industry partners are required to pre-register and only those persons on the attendees list will be admitted to the RMMV Display and Briefing Sessions. The sessions will be held at the UNCLASSIFIED level (U.S. citizens only). All interested members are required to provide names and company identification to rmmv_display_day@navy.mil no later than February 28th, 2013 at 1200. All attendance requests shall contain the full name of all people attending, Security Officer contact information to confirm US citizenship, and the CAGE Code of the company they represent. Interested industry partners are highly encouraged to have up to a maximum of three individuals present. In the event that a company submits more than three attendance requests, only the first three persons will be allowed to attend. The objective of the unclassified briefing is to provide a technical and programmatic RMMV overview. The RMS is a mine reconnaissance system designed for the detection, classification, identification, and localization of bottom and moored mines in shallow and deep water. The RMS is a fully integrated system consisting of a semi-submersible RMMV carrying a towed variable depth sensor, the AN/AQS-20A. The RMMV is a high-endurance, semi-autonomous, low-observable, unmanned, diesel-powered vehicle, operated and maintained from the LCS. The AN/AQS-20A incorporates five separate sonar/sensors (side-look sonar, forward-look sonar, volume search sonar, gap fill sonar, and electro-optical identification sensor) in a compact, lightweight, and hydro-dynamically stable towed body. The AN/AQS-20A localizes mine-like objects and provides the operator with a visual image and a contact data list. All mission data is recorded by the LCS for post-mission analysis. Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Over-the-Horizon (OTH) communication provides vehicle Command and Control (C2) and mine reconnaissance sensor data transmission. The RMS will provide the Navy the capability to keep ships and sailors out of the minefield. Current intentions call for the RMS to be deployed from the LCS as part of the ships ™ Mine Counter Measures (MCM) Mission Package (MP). There will be no opportunities for questions or discussions between individual industry representatives and Government Technical Program Office representatives. There will be no handout material provided at the event. This announcement may be updated with presentation material. Please periodically recheck this announcement. Use of the following is prohibited at the sessions: Cell Phones Blackberries Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) Audio or Video Recording Equipment Cameras Camera phones Two Way Pagers Wireless Devices Bluetooth Devices Personally Owned Media: (Disks, DVDs, CDs, etc.) Thumb Drives Memory Sticks IPODs MP3 Players
