- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS announcement to be used for preliminary market survey information planning purposes only. No proposals are being requested or accepted with this synopsis. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS. The type of solicitation to issue will depend upon the responses to this synopsis. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or any follow up information requests. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities and qualifications of all large and small businesses capable of performing the work specified. The Airfields and Pavements Branch (APB) has been tasked by the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer (AFCEC) Center to develop a C-130 transportable rubber removal system for airfield pavements. The system must meet U.S. Air Force requirements as listed below. 1.Must operate on both grooved and ungrooved pavement 2.Must be a standalone unit that does not require connection of hoses during operation 3.Equipment must be operational on roads for transportation purposes 4.Must be drivable into a C-130 cargo space 5.Must require only one operator to remove rubber and dispose of gray water and solid waste 6.Operator cab a.Must be heated and cooled b.Must provide direct line of sight to the cleaning path via a cantilevered cab c.Must have a monitor and camera to provide visibility all around the system 7.Pavement surface a.Must clean without damaging the pavement surface b.Standing water on cleaned surface is not allowed; no runoff allowed 8.Cleaning head a.Cleaning head must rotate at speed of 1000 - 3000 rpm b.Independently powered by hydraulically driven motor c.Has rotating spray bar d.Must have replaceable pressure spray nozzles, positioned straight down e.Must be cast from aluminum or iron and have a minimum wall thickness of 3/8 in. f.Must have ability to move the cleaning head in the operator's cab g.Effective cleaning path width at least 33 in. h.Cleaning head must have the ability to be attached and removed without tools 9.Waste recovery a.Must have onboard waste recovery and separation from water b.No vacuum system or squeegee system allowed for the waste water recovery c.Macerator pump for debris recovery 10.Fresh water tank capacity of 1600 gallons 11.Uninterrupted run time of 6 hours 12.Inlet water filtration of no more than 0.35 micron 13.Hydrostatic drive 14.Ability to meet or exceed performance testing required. 15.Only full proposals with detailed drawings and specifications will be considered 16.A two day training class onsite with lecture and hands-on training shall be provided.
