- SOURCES SOUGHT Notice to Interested Parties - This posting is a request for information only and does not constitute a formal request for proposal from B&W Pantex. BACKGROUND The Pantex Plant, located 17 miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas, is charged with securing America by providing the nation's nuclear deterrent. The facility is managed and operated by Babcock and Wilcox Technical Services Pantex, LLC (B&W PANTEX) for the United States Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). The Pantex Plant supports four core missions: 1) National Security, 2) Nuclear Explosive Operations, 3) Nuclear Material Operations, and 4) High Explosive Operations. Daily operations involve work with nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship, plutonium pit storage, high explosives work, engineering, safety, security, facilities management, quality, environmental protection, and general administration. For purposes of achieving core mission objectives and in managing the Pantex Plant, B&W Pantex relies heavily on the usage of outside subcontractors and suppliers to provide necessary support services to Plant operations. STATED OBJECTIVE To better support the procurement needs at Pantex Plant, B&W Pantex is seeking to expand its vendor database of suppliers having construction and general contracting expertise. As Pantex Plant is a nuclear facility, we specifically seek suppliers who are ASME NQA-1 2008 qualified and who meet the standard quality assurance requirements for nuclear facility applications. This standard provides requirements and guidelines for the establishment and execution quality assurance programs during siting, design, construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. This standard reflects industry experience and current understanding of the quality assurance requirements necessary to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient utilization of nuclear energy, and management and processing of radioactive materials. The standard focuses on the achievement of results, emphasizes the role of the individual and line management in the achievement of quality, and fosters the application of these requirements in a manner consistent with the relative importance of the item or activity.
