Description
1.ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: a.Echocardiography. Contractor records single beam echocardiographic instrument interfaced with multi-channel oscilliloscope and strip-chart recorder. Perform records using the M-Mode and 2-Dimensional scanning technique. Recognize and record the following structures: (1)mitral and aortic valves (2)aortic root (3)left atrium (4)left ventricle (5)interventricular septum (6)left interventricular posterior wall (7)left ventricle Record strip chart echocardiograms simultaneously with intravascular pressure. Provide initial technical interpretations regarding adequacy of study, recognizes and informs referring physician and cardiologist of immediate potentially life-threatening conditions. b.Cardiac Doppler Examinations. Contractor Technician: Examines through the use of Doppler signals through cardiac chambers and valves; Documents the flows by recording the Doppler signals; Measures the signals so that appropriate analysis can be obtained; Measures and calculates Doppler information to assess valve gradients and area, semi-quantities and shunts; Provides initial interpretations of data and is required to set up all appropriate equipment. c.Ultrasound Computer Package. Contractor Technician obtains: approximate ejection fractions; volume measurements, cardiac output, etc., in echocardiography; Doppler measurements and calculations. Contractor is responsible for inputting data and conclusions and providing a computer printout for the final report. Contractor interfaces, as required, signals from echocardiograms and multi-channel records to common strip recorders, oscilloscopes, tape decks and inputs to computer terminals for rapid and accurate data processing.
