Request for Information T-38 Canopy Latch, PN 2-13557-2, NSN 1560-00-709-7208XE This announcement constitutes an official Request for Information (RFI). This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB), nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the government. 1. Purpose: The purpose of this RFI is to gather comments and identify potential sources for a T-38 canopy latch, which is a Critical Safety Item (CSI) and must be manufactured by qualified government sources. 2. Background: The T-38 System Program Office (SPO) of the Trainer Aircraft Sustainment Squadron at Ogden Air Logistics Complex requires industry response regarding capabilities, experience, and qualifications to manufacture critical safety item: T-38 rear canopy latch PN 2-13557-2 (NSN 1560-00-709-7208XE). 3. Scope of Task: • Canopy latch must be manufactured in accordance with the design, construction, and physical characteristics as specified in applicable drawings, and standards/specifications. • Canopy latch and its entire component in the assembly shall be manufactured by a qualified USAF source. 4. Information/Format: Potential offerors seeking approval as a qualified source for this part must meet the specified Source Qualification Statement (SQS) requirements (see attached SQS).Potential offerors willing to become qualified source must be able to submit a Source Approval Request (SAR). Potential offerors are requested to provide information on relevant history and evidence of past performance/capability to satisfy this type of requirement, to include the NSN or PN (if existent). The Air Force is expecting this latter requirement will demonstrate the offeror's infrastructure and integration capability exists to provide all aspects of this task to include but not limited to the following: • Manufacturing aircraft components, specifically canopy latches • Previous Government qualification/approval/contract by similarity • Class 1A casting capable/experience • Other pertinent data concerning your qualification to manufacture the required item. Please submit electronically your response in an executive summary format not to exceed 5 pages. If your response includes information you consider proprietary, please mark the information in accordance with regulatory guidance. Please do not include company brochures or other marketing information. Final vendor RFI responses are due by close of business 25 March 2013. The government does not intend to make an award on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited herein.
