- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the fabrication of the Mars Organic Molecule Analyzer Mass Spectrometer (MOMA-MS) linear ion trap rods and end ceramics. This requirement is to fabricate the following hardware: QTY = 8 LINEAR TRAP RODS, SOLID QTY = 6 LINEAR TRAP RODS, SLIT QTY = 6 CERAMIC END CAPS NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Mindrum Precision, Inc. pursuant to Far 13.106 for the acquisition of supplies or services determine to be reasonably available from one source. Mindrum Precision is the only vendor that can fabricate these rods and ceramic spacers to the critical tolerances. A concession in the alignment, parallelism or hyperbolic finish of these electrodes would result directly in a compromise in analytical performance. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities statement to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time on 04/04/2013. Such statements will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit a statement which shall be considered by the agency.
