- Description
- NASA/GRC has a requirement for replacement bearings for Falk 21.929 X 12-1/2 Speed Increaser currently installed at GRC. Item 1: HS bearings. Bearings shall be exact replacement bearings to operate in either direction of rotation, including six type K embedded thermocouples, three in each load zone for direction of rotation, Quantity 2. Item 2: LS bearings. Bearings shall be exact replacement bearings to operate in either direction of rotation, including four type K embedded thermocouples, two in each load zone for direction of rotation, Quantity 2. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from Falk Prager on a sole source basis. The drawings of the original bearings are the property of Falk and the manufacturing drawings prepared for the replacement bearings are proprietary to Falk. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. The Sole Source is under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 26, 2013. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
