Description

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with ALK Abello, Inc., 1700 Royston Lane, Round Rock, TX 78664-9555 for as-needed allergy medications to support the UD Medical Center Allergy Clinic, 30 University Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15240-1000. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i) (only one responsible source) as it is believed that only ALK Abello, Inc. is capable of providing all of the standardized and custom allergenic extract required within the short timeframe the products were needed. Delivery of the required items to the veterans cannot be interrupted by non-availability and any change in the formulary of the medications, or even minor changes in allergenic extracts from those currently being procured thru ALK Abello could result in allergic reactions in patients and could necessitate restarting therapy. This notice of intent is not for competitive quotes. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) number is 424210, small business size standard 100. This notice is NOT a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document is available. However, parties may express their interest, accompanied by supporting literature, by email to Jeff Greis, Contracting Officer, no later than March 30, 12:01 ET. Responses should be sent to jeffrey.greis@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with sole-source negotiations. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the VAPHS Contracting Officer.
