- This combined synopsis / solicitation is for a firm-fixed-price contract for autopsy assistant services at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts. The contract award shall be a 100% set aside to a small business. The period of performance for the contract is the date of award through March 31, 2014, with four (4) one-year option periods to extend services, which shall be exercised at the discretion of the Government, totaling a five-year contract. Autopsy services shall be performed for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the Bedford VAMC, located at 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730. The following is a description of the services required by the VA: 1.Autopsy assistant /diener to perform brain removal procedure for both head only and full autopsies. For full autopsy, brain is removed prior to transport of the body to West Roxbury VA Path Lab where complete autopsy is performed. Brain removal is performed in the Bedford VAMC morgue. 2.Service to include morgue clean up following autopsy procedure. 3.Vendor to be on call Monday - Friday, plus weekends and holidays. 4.Vendor is to arrange for backup assistant in the event that the Contractor is unavailable. 5.Estimated number of cases per year is 46. The VA shall provide to the successful Contractor the following: 1.Personal protection equipment, equipment and supplies, medical waste disposal, and supervision during the procedure; and, 2.Information to the Contractor's autopsy assistant/diener about Bedford VAMC policies and procedures prior to autopsy. The solicitation is in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The North American industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 812210. The Contractor shall adhere to all federal and state laws and regulations in effect during the term of this contract. The procurement is subject to the availability of funds. The closing date for the receipt of offers is Wednesday, April 10. Offerors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database prior to contract award in order to be considered for award.
