- THIS IS A LIMITED SOURCE SOLE DOCUMENT FOR SPERRE AIR COMPRESSOR PARTS AND AND QUALIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIANS SPERRE START AIR COMPRESSOR 10K HR OVERHAUL STATEMENT OF WORK 1.0 ABSTRACT 1.1 This item describes performing 10K maintenance on each of the two Main Diesel Engine Start Air Compressors. 2.0 REFERENCES 2.1 TM T9551-A1-MMC-010; Air Compressor Main Diesel Starting Model HL2/160 3.0 Equipment Location/Description/Contractor Provide Material 3.1 Location: Engine Room 3.2 Description: Start Air Compressors, Sperre Model HL2/160 3.3 Qty: 2 Material Shipping Notes: The contractor shall package all material and any tools they require and ship per MSC Logistics Instructions to either Norfolk VA, or San Diego Ca. MSC Logistics will have the package shipped to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. MSC LOGISICS POC: Robert J. In performance of this Work Item, the Contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier shall comply with the requirements of all applicable GTR's. 5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, are advised to review other Work Items under this contract, to determine their effect on the work required under this Work Item. 5.3 SPECIAL TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS: Ship Location: USNS Lewis and Clark, Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean Performance Period: 10 Jun thru 30 Jun 2013 Contractor will be provided berthing onboard the USNS Lewis and Clark. There are no commercial hotels on Diego Garcia. The only way onto the Island is via AMC (US Air Force) Flight from either Bahrain or Singapore. POC: Richie S. Bansil Passenger Control Point Personnel Support Detachment Diego Garcia PSC 466 Box 01 FPO AP 96595-0001 Phone:011-246-370-3661/3662 Fax: 011-246-370-3652 Richie.bansil.RP@fe.navy.mil 6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS 6.1 None Additional. 7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED 7.1 SPERRE Authorized Service Tech Rep to perform Reference 2.1 maintenance routine C 10hr on each of the two start air compressors. (routine C require performing parts of routine A) NOTE: Engine plant will be in operation during work. Work and testing shall be completed on one compressor prior to starting work on the other unit. • Routine C 1. Change lubricating oil 2. Remove the valves from both cylinders. It is recommended to dismantle the valves for full inspection and cleaning or replacement if necessary. 3. Dismantle cylinders, pistons and connecting rods. Inspect cylinder walls, pistons and piston rings. Clean and replace any damaged or warn parts. Inspect big end and little end bearings. 4. Dismantle compressor cooler tubes and clean internally as described 5. After dismantling cylinders, pistons, cooler tubes etc., check wear on crankshaft frame bearings by testing crankshaft lateral play. The life of ball and roller bearings may vary considerably 6. Carry out Routine A items 3,4,5,6,7 and 8 • Routine A 3. Inspect the flexible coupling between compressor and motor. 4. Check bed bolts. Also check vibration dampers and hose connections if the unit is flexibly mounted. Check that no oil has come into contact with the rubber elements in the vibration dampers 5. Function-test the safety valve. Close the stop valve on the pipe to the receiver. The safety valve should blow at maximum working pressure + 10%. If necessary, dismantle safety valve, clean and readjust. 6. Check all pipe connections (compressor running). 7. Check that all automatic equipment is functioning correctly. 8. Clean air filter. 7.3 Develop a service report and submit to Chief engineer and port engineer. 7.4 Conduct an operational test and capacity test at completion of installation. Authorized Service Technician shall demonstrate proper operation to the Port Engineer and Chief Engineer. 8.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: None Additional.
