Description

The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) is soliciting product specification and performance information for commercially available knitted fabrics for use in the US Navy ™s all-season fitness suit. The material should be capable of meeting or exceeding the physical and performance characteristics outlined in Table I (see attachment), both before and after five (5) launderings per (AATCC 135 (3) IVAiii), unless otherwise specified. Production materials should be dyeable to approximate the Navy Blue 3392 standard. Responses to this Sources Sought Notice may be provided to NCTRF in a different shade. To respond to this Sources Sought Notice, interested candidates are REQUIRED to submit five (5) linear yards of the proposed material for evaluation and potential testing. Submissions are limited to three (3) materials per candidate. The vendor must provide a detailed description of each material: cost per yard (specify width of the material), test results (including test method utilized) that address the requirements identified above and Material Safety Data Sheets for all component compounds (i.e. for moisture wicking, antimicrobial or other finishes). Material specifications provided should include: product description, performance characteristics, production lead time, fiber production location, yarn production location, weaving/knitting location, finishing location, and illustrations/photographs with corresponding descriptive information that best describes the material. Vendors should also include a point of contact (name, phone number and email address), any available documentation, literature, and brochures pertaining to the material, including citations of current users, end uses, and benefits of the materials. This Sources Sought Notice is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Please submit responses by 8 May 13 to Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility, Attn: James Martin, Warehouse 20-86, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760. Submitted information and materials will not be returned. This Sources Sought Notice is not a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This Sources Sought Notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure these items, nor does the Government intend to award on the basis of the Sources Sought Notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submissions of responses to this request for information and Government use of such information.
