Description
ACU-14 provides conditioned air to the E-wing labs in bldg. 235 the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR). This unit was designed incorrectly; the cooling coil is located too close to the supply fan. In the summer time, condensation is pulled from the cooling coil into the supply fan housing. This additional moisture has rusted out the fan housing and lead to a catastrophic fan failure in February 2013. Repairs have been made to the supply fan and motor, but the unit needs to be replaced. The objective of this contract is to obtain a contractor to replace ACU-14. Construction Contractor Requirements: Provide construction services to perform necessary mechanical, rigging, electrical, programing and commissioning work. The contractor shall provide all the necessary services, including labor, materials, equipment, supplies and supervision as necessary to fulfill the requirements of this project. The contractor shall provide a new ACU with enough spacing between the cooling coil and supply fan so that water is not drawn away from the cooling coil. The contractor shall perform work per attached specifications and drawings. Below is an overview of the tasks the contractor will have to perform/provide: All labor to demo existing unit. All labor to install new unit. All Misc materials, piping, valves, etc required for the installation of the new unit. All insulation to be installed on the ductwork and piping. All labor and material to demo ductwork and reconnect existing zones to new unit. Installation of power for the new unit. All material and labor to demolish the existing pneumatic HVAC controls and replace them with DDC controls and tie local controls to the global controller for monitoring and manipulation over the BAS front end. All labor and material to replace existing pneumatic thermostats with digital thermostats for each zone (this includes all wire and conduit as needed). All testing and PVT's Commissioning of ACU-14 The project must be complete within 210 calendar days (20 weeks) from Notice to Proceed. The magnitude of construction is between $100,000 and $250,000. A solicition is anticipated to be issued on or about April 25, 2013.
