- This is a synopsis prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. This is a Notice of Intent. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations NOT are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The announcement number for this acquisition is NIH-OD2920659 and is being issued under the authority of FAR Subpart 6.302-1, 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The anticipated award date is April 18, 2013. This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 541712 which has a size dollar standard of 500. The National Institutes of Health, Office of the Director, Office of Logistics and Acquisitions Operations, on the behalf of the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) intends to procure on a sole source basis from Department of Radiation Oncology at Duke University Medical Center. National Institute of Nursing Research is researching on elucidating the pathological mechanisms causing gastrointestinal symptoms. The research expands that GI pathology to include colorectal cancer. The current development of a mouse study will demonstrate the effect of exercise and physical activity on metastasis is critical to widen the growing exercise oncology field. The Lee Jones lab at Duke University within Radiation Oncology has experience and successful at developing the mouse model and it is critical for NINR to use to maintain similar protocol outcomes using the same surgical technique and equipment in continuation of this work. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government..
