Description
SOURCES SOUGHT - Rock Block Monitoring at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, SD This sources sought for the National Park Service (NPS), Mount Rushmore National Monument (MORU), is for the purpose of conducting market research to determine interest and capability of rock block monitoring. This announcement is not a solicitation for proposal, nor are proposals accepted at this time. Any solicitation that may be issued will be posted on FedConnect (www.FedConnect.net) and Federal Business Opportunities (www.fbo.gov). Any cost associated with providing a response to this sources sought, shall be the responsibility of the firm. The Contracting Officer shall use the information received to aid in determining an acquisition strategy. All interested firms must respond to future solicitation announcements separately from responses to this market survey / sources sought. Project Description: In the early 1990s, a series of studies related to discontinuities of the sculpture was performed. Of the discontinuities identified, there was 21 distinct rock block identified, of which three were identified to be structurally significant. The project involves operation and maintenance of the rock block monitoring equipment installed on the sculpture. Maintenance, in part, includes gauge retrieval, gauge replacement, gauge reinstallation, instrument inspection, equipment replacement, and such. The project also includes review and interpretation of data to determine if all components are operating properly and interpreting block movement. The data is collected from 12 Strain Gauges and 23 thermocouples located on the sculpture. The anticipated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 541690, Other Scientific and Technical Consulting Services and the associated small business size standard is $14 million.
