Description
IFB 237539 A. The Work consists of demolition and new installations in the EDL building, the LSL-II building and piping replacement from LSL-II to ROBII. The project will replace EDL's existing steam supplied heat system with hydronic heating. A multi-unit boiler system will be installed to feed new air handler heating coils and existing zone heating coils. Existing equipment will be removed as necessary to support installation of the new system and the steam line capped in the PSL building. The project will also replace LSL-II's existing steam supplied hot water system with a new multi-unit hot water heating system and to excavate and replace the existing underground 4" high pressure condensate return (HPCR) with a new 8" HPCR from LSL-II to ROB-II. This work is located in the Richland Research Complex. B. The Work will include one (1) additive alternate to excavate and replace the existing underground 8" low pressure steam (LPS) pipe with a new 8" LPS line concurrently with the new 8" HPCR work described above. C. The work includes providing labor, materials, equipment and subcontracts to Battelle on a Firm Fixed Price basis, in buildings and at locations operated by Battelle for the Department of Energy, (DOE). D. The portion of the work being performed inside the EDL facility requires escort(s) of Contractor personnel at all times. Battelle will provide access to the EDL facility and escort personnel. Scheduling of the escorts will be the responsibility of the Contractor through the Battelle Construction Manager. Battelle may provide security clearances to a limited number of contractor personnel who currently or recently have held a DOE clearance L or Q for unescorted access to EDL. E. Contractor will be allowed to use the 10 ton overhead bridge crane in EDL to transfer equipment and materials to the basement level. The Contractor's crane operator will be required to have a current NCCCO card and perform an On the Job Evaluation performed by Battelle qualified personnel. F. These facilities are performing on-going research activities and all utility outages must be kept to a minimum. Request authorization to perform isolations and conduct outages in writing a minimum of five (5) days in advance. All outages shall be performed off shift or weekends depending on research activities and building management approval. The Contractor may have to provide temporary utilities during outages. All costs associated with temporary utilities shall be included in the bids.
