- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 20, Vancouver, WA intends to Award a Sole Source Contract to Pacific Furnishings, for Herman Miller systems office furniture. NAICS: 423210. The Government believes that Pacific Furnishings is the only provider that will satisfy the agency requirements. This is a Sole Source procurement under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, 13.106-1 (b) (1) (i) and Other Than Full and Open Competition (FAR 6.302-1). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes however; any firm that believes it can meet the requirement may give written notification to the Contracting Officer, Network Contracting Office (NCO)20, 8524 N Wall St, Spokane, WA., within four (4) days from the date of publication of this synopsis: In order to complete the VISN 20 offices remodeling process, specific items must be acquired through a Sole Source Procurement. The items to be procured can only be provided by Herman Miller, Inc. Per FAR 6.302-1 (b) (1) (i), the office furniture supplied by Herman Miller, Inc. is to be considered unique to this vendor and cannot be acquired through other sources. Herman Miller, Inc. was previously contracted to provide the office furnishings in the other VISN 20 offices. There are already many Herman Miller branded products currently installed within the office spaces which are being remodeled. These installed components consist of desks, computer equipment holders, and various peripheral storage items. In order to guarantee compatibility with the currently installed and inherently unique items, the items necessary to complete phase one of the remodel MUST be procured from the same source. The other offices within the work area have also been supplied with Herman Miller products; so there is an aesthetic element to this requirement and justification as well. We also will be utilizing existing Herman Miller components with the new items requested; therefore it is imperative that we utilize the same manufacturer so the parts will connect. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to the above listed address or via fax to (509) 321-1932. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
