- The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) currently uses EarthNetworks WeatherBug data to support Planning, Preparedness, and Response. The data feed that is provided by EarthNetworks is used by staff to gain access to the more than 10,000 professional-grade, state-of-the-art weather stations that provide comprehensive weather information, integrated with weather data from global sources, to deliver precise, accurate weather information. Many stations include Earth Networks HD and motion cameras that take situational awareness capabilities to a new level. These cameras provide superior video imaging, enabling critical assets monitoring (such as buildings, transportation networks and infrastructure) from any location. These live images enhance visibility of the community and infrastructure during weather events and throughout day-to-day operations. This Notice of Intent to award a sole source contract is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes. There is no solicitation document. No RFP will be made available for competitive proposals. Phone calls will not be accepted. The main point of contact for this requirement is Carol Allen (Contracting Officer) at carol.allen@hhs.gov. Please reference "Earth Networks Inc." in the subject line of any email. Interested parties may express their interest and will be allowed to provide a capabilities statement no later than Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 12:00 PM EST. If no viable responses are received, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will negotiate solely with Earth Networks Inc. A determination not to compete this proposed contract upon responses to this notice rests solely within the discretion of the Government.
