Description
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 206 Door Lock and Component Testing This synopsis is issued in accordance with FAR Part 5.203 in response to the mandatory requirement for a 15 day pre-solicitation notification. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this contract will be to procure testing services, inspection services, and reports so that the Government can determine whether seat belt assemblies comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 206. The Contractor shall furnish the necessary qualified personnel, facilities, materials, supplies, equipment, and services to perform work associated with the procurement, inspection, compliance testing, and compliance test reporting of seat belt assemblies, provided to the contractor as Government Furnished Test Items (GFTI), or purchased by the contractor as Contractor Purchased test Items (CPTI) as specified in the contract, with the applicable requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 206, Door Lock and Component. Background: Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 206 establishes minimum performance requirements for motor vehicle door locks and door retention components. The purpose of Standard 206 is to minimize the likelihood of occupants being thrown from a vehicle as a result of impact. The requirements for compliance testing of motor vehicle door locks and door retention components include testing such components to the load test requirements of FMVSS No. 206 as specified in TP-206-08. Period of Performance: NHTSA intends to award a firm-fixed price contract with a base year of twelve (12) months and up to four (4), twelve (12)-month option periods thereafter. This procurement is for full and open competition. The NAICS code is 541380. The solicitation will be released electronically via this Government Point of Entry (GPE) otherwise known as Federal Business Opportunities or www.fbo.gov. As such, no written, telephonic or other type of request for an advance copy of the solicitation will be entertained at this time. Potential offerors/vendors are encouraged to register on www.fbo.gov to receive any further information in reference to the subject action inclusive of any announcements, and/or amendments to the solicitation after its release.
