- Writing Skills for Foreign Service Professionals. The Writing Skills sessions are part of a six-week orientation course that introduces new Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) to the diplomatic work of the Foreign Service. The course is scheduled to be held five (5) times in fiscal year 2013. The Writing Skills portion of the course is approximately eight (8) hours of in-class instruction during four (4) different sessions. Each session is conducted with sufficient time between sessions to allow participants to prepare and submit assignments. Although some in-class instructional time will allow participants to prepare and submit assignments in class, other assignments must be assessed outside the classroom hours. Prospective bidders should include in their bid the time spent outside of the classroom for class preparation and/or writing assessments. Quantity and due dates of assignments will be determined by the Orientation staff in coordination with the Contractor. Class size and the number of course offerings during the year are subject to change with notification of such changes made as early as possible.
