- Description
- J&A - Parker Hannifin Corporation, SS Drives Division, is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for both the existing Eurotherm model 620 Drive System onboard the USS EMORY S. LAND (AS 39) and the existing Parker Hannifin model 890 Drive System onboard the USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40). The existing 30 Ton crane is required for USN sponsor mission support, including US Navy Submarine sponsor support requirements. The required item is critical ship equipment in accordance with SMS procedure number 10.6-002-ALL, Identification of Critical Equipment, the failure of which poses a hazard to the ship, the crew and/or the environment. The current Eurotherm model 620 Drive System has failed, CASREP C3-12-001 applies, and system is no longer supported by the OEM, and replacement parts are no longer available commercially. The Parker Hannifin model 890 Drive System is the OEM recommended "drop-in" replacement system. NAVSEA previously upgraded USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40) to the Parker Hannifin model 890 Drive System prior to transfer of the vessel to MSC. Standardization of configuration in this ship class is required to minimize integration, training, maintenance, and logistics support costs. Standardization of equipment configuration will also minimize costs associated with the integration of existing crane electrical and control system components.
