- Contractor shall provide all necessary manpower, equipment, materials, and other associated necessities to accomplish the following upgrades to the four (4) ESCO 44B-2F Hook Cable arresting gear systems at Masirah Air Base on Masirah Island in Oman: 1.Replace all existing 37 HP retrieve drive engines with new 48 HP multi-fuel engines. 2.Upgrade existing pendant cables to 1-1/4 quote mark diameter to include appropriate sized tape to cable connectors. Contractor shall provide all necessary manpower, equipment, materials, and other associated necessities to accomplish preventative maintenance for four (4) ESCO 44B-2F Hook Cable arresting gear systems at Masirah Air Base on Masirah Island in Oman. Preventative maintenance activities will include: 1.Conduct the following daily checks IAW manufactures guidance: a.Energy Absorber (1)Inspect rotor shaft packing gland nut for leakage (2)Inspect remainder of energy absorber for leakage (3)Check water/ethylene glycol level (4)Check security of tape anchor pin (5)Check energy absorber security to foundation b.Pressure Roller (1)Check pressure roller system for security to foundation (2)Check pressure roller arm tension (3)Inspect lubrication of support/guide, pivot, and chain hoist chain c.Retrieve Drive Engine (1)Check retrieve drive assembly security to foundation (2)Check pendant pretension (3)Check retrieve motor operation d.Absorber Sheave (1)Check absorber sheave security to foundation e.Runway Sheave (1)Check for security to foundation f.Purchase Tape (1)Inspect purchase tape for wear (2)Check operations record for possible tape replacement and wear g.Tape to Pendant Connector (1)Inspect for secure hardware 2.Conduct the following weekly checks IAW manufactures guidance in addition to the daily check: a.Pressure Roller (1)Clean and re-grease support guide, pivot, and chain hoist chain b.Pendant Assembly (1)Inspect for defects (2)Check operations record for possible pendant replacement 3.Conduct the following monthly checks IAW manufactures guidance in addition to the daily check: a.Energy Absorber (1)Check water/ethylene glycol color (2)Perform energy absorber corrosion inspection (3)Inspect flange rollers b.Pressure roller (1)Check rotation (2)Perform corrosion inspection c.Retrieve Drive Engine (1)Service retrieve drive assembly (2)Check chain tension (3)Check sprocket component positioning (4)Perform corrosion inspection d.Absorber Sheave (1)Perform corrosion inspection (2)Check sheave roller rotation and lubrication e.Tape to Pendant Connector (1)Perform corrosion inspection 4.Conduct the following periodic services: a.Every Three Months (1)Inspect bungee cotton cover of pressure roller b.Every Six Months (1)Service speed reducer and fluid coupling of retrieve drive engine c.Every year (1)Inspect bungee of pressure roller assembly for strength loss d.Every Two Years (1)End-for-end purchase tapes e.Every Three Years (1)Replace pendant (2)Overhaul retrieve drive engine f.Every Five Years (1)Overhaul energy absorber (2)Overhaul pressure roller (3)Overhaul absorber sheaves (4)Overhaul runway sheaves (5)Overhaul tape to pendant connector g.Conditional replacement of the following items: (1)Purchase Tapes - Any one of the following conditions: (a)Four years of service (b)100 arrested landings (c)Cut through outer weave into load carrying bundles longer than quote mark (d)Longitudinal splitting (e)Tape edge is worn more than quote mark (f)Tape widths is less than 5.5 quote mark for 6 quote mark tape and 7.25 quote mark for 8 quote mark tape (g)Worn spots on face that expose longitudinal bundles and are greater than 1 quote mark in diameter (2)Pendant Cables - Any one of the following conditions: (a)Three years of service (b)15 arrestments for 1-1/4 quote mark (c)12 arrestments for 1-1/8 quote mark (d)10 arrestments for 1 quote mark (e)One arrestment over 160 knots (f)Kinking (g)Nine broke wires over entire length of pendant (h)Five or more broken wires in one cable pitch length (i)Fiber core visible (j)Bird caging (k)Excessive wear (l)Necking down 5.Conduct the following checks after every aircraft arrestment a.Operate retrieve drive assemblies to retrieve purchase tape and pendant b.Inspect purchase tapes during retrieval c.Inspect pressure roller system roller for rotation during retrieval d.Inspect energy absorber assemblies rotor shaft and support rollers during retrieval e.Complete energy absorber assemblies inspection f.Inspect absorber sheaves g.Inspect runway sheaves h.Inspect pendant i.Inspect tape connectors j.Tension pendant k.Secure retrieve drive assemblies 6.Contractor shall be prepared to conduct any other maintenance/repair activities not identified above to ensure continued readiness of all arresting gear units. 7.Contractor shall have sufficient spare parts on hand to return arresting gear to operational status within 24 hours of damage.
