- Description
- The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) is seeking sources for a lightweight, water and mildew resistant fabric to be used as an identification streamer tape. The fabric color shall be dyed red, according to Federal Standard 595C color 31136 and the tape must be capable of being ink printed. The performance characteristics should be equal to or better than the current fabric of MIL-T-43566C, Type I, Class 4 (attached). Alternate fiber types and mildew resistance finishes will be considered that meet the performance characteristics listed in MIL-T-43566C for Type I, Class 4. The streamer tape will be exposed to sun light and salt spray for periods up to one week, up to 12 times per year, and will be stored in a metal container exposed to outside temperatures. Once the fabric is printed, the printing must remain legible during the expected 5 year service life of the item. This Sources Sought Notice is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Manufacturers who believe they have product(s) capable of meeting the above requirements are requested to contact Kate Cauley at (508) 233-1350 or via email at kcauley@nctrf.natick.army.mil by 30 May 2013 to schedule an appointment at NCTRF to present product information such as sample yardage, product literature, company brochures, places of manufacture and other relevant information. All the aforementioned material can also be shipped to Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility, Attn: K. Cauley, Warehouse 20-7, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760 no later than 30 May 2013, or submitted via email to kcauley@nctrf.natick.army.mil. Submitted information and materials will not be returned. This Sources Sought Notice is not a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This Sources Sought Notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure the items, nor does the US Navy intend to award on the basis of the Sources Sought Notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this request for information and Government use of such information.
