- Bldg. 2 Site Entrance Improvements and Bldg. 2 Renovation, Project 529-12-104 and Project 529-12-107 This project includes the complete Bldg. 2 Site Entrance Improvements and Bldg. 2 Renovation, projects entail completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for Construction and Modifications required to support building 2, post HCC. The work will include all necessary labor, tools, material, equipment, transportation, permits, license and supervision for the work described in the project Numbers 529-12-104 and 529-12-107 drawings and specifications. Work includes but is not limited to site work, utilities, structure, demolition, landscaping, soil erosion and sedimentation controls, and storm water management. Primary objective of this portion (project 529-12-104) of the work will be modifying the existing building 1 loading dock vehicular entrance for the new access to the proposed building 2 basement level loading dock, replacement of existing patient smoke shelter, modifications required to site to meet VA accessibility requirements to enter and exit building 2. General construction, temporary site construction barriers, earth moving, concrete paving, planting, site improvements, plumbing, fire protection, communications, electronic safety and security, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water service, natural gas service, exterior electrical work, and removal of certain existing site improvements. All work shall be coordination with project 529-12-107 Building 2 Renovation, which will be executed concurrently as required by drawings and specifications. 1.2 STATEMENT OF BID ITEM(S) A.BASE BID ITEM I, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: 529-12-104 Building 2 Site Entrance Improvements: Work includes but is not limited to site work, utilities, structure, demolition, landscaping, soil erosion and sedimentation controls, and storm water management. Primary objective of this portion of the work will be modifying the existing building 1 loading dock vehicular entrance for the new access to the proposed building 2 basement level loading dock, replacement of existing patient smoke shelter, modifications required to site to meet VA accessibility requirements to enter and exit building 2. General construction, temporary site construction barriers, earth moving, concrete paving, planting, site improvements, plumbing, fire protection, communications, electronic safety and security, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water service, natural gas service, exterior electrical work, and removal of certain existing site improvements. All work shall be coordination with project 529-12-107 Building 2 Renovation which will be executed concurrently. B. BASE BID ITEM II, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: 529-12-107 Building 2 Renovation: The work includes but is not limited to the construction of a new loading dock, Kitchen and kitchen support area addition to building 2, renovate the interior of building 2, all levels, with selective demolition and modifications to existing infrastructure. General Construction includes, but is not limited to, general construction, earth moving, concrete paving, planting, site improvements, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, communications, electronic safety and security, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water service, natural gas service, exterior and interior electrical work, and removal of certain existing site improvements. Complete all construction work within 365 calendar days of Notice to Proceed. C.ALTERNATE NO.1: Item I and II less Window Treatments. Complete all construction work within 365 calendar days of Notice to Proceed. D.ALTERNATE NO. 2: Item I and II less ALTERNATE No. 1 and less Demolition of the existing Patient Smoke Shelter. Complete all construction work within 365 calendar days of Notice to Proceed. E. ALTERNATE NO. 3: Item I and II less ALTERNATE NO. 2 and Copper Ionization System. Complete all construction work within 365 calendar days of Notice to Proceed. F. ALTERNATE NO. 4: Item I and II less ALTERNATE NO.3 and wood doors to be used in lieu of Acrovyn Doors. Complete all construction work within 365 calendar days of Notice to Proceed. Note: Completion time for base bid (Bid Item I) and bid alternates as listed above. This includes thirty (30) calendar day submittal period. Provide all submittals within thirty (30) days of notice to proceed. Upon submission, review, and approval of all submittals by the A/E and COTR, the contractor will immediately begin construction unless otherwise approved by the contracting officer. All respondents must obtain amendments at this website, hard copies will not be mailed. All questions must be submitted in writing by mail, email-linda.bressler@va.gov or fax (724-477-5026) to the issuing office in sufficient time prior to bid opening. NAICS Code is 236220, and is applicable to this acquisition with a Business Size Standard of $33.5 million. Magnitude of Construction is between $2,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The project duration is expected to take: from Notice to Proceed is 365 calendar days. Solicitation VA-244-13-B-0490 will be available on or about May 16, 2013. Bid Opening Date will be specified in the solicitation, Bldg. #1, Rm 328W. Pre-bid conference is tentatively scheduled for 5/23/2013, at 10:00 A.M. location to be specified in the solicitation, VA Medical Center, Butler, PA 16001. This is a total service disabled veteran owned small business set-aside.
