- Description
- The RRB seeks to procure a Virtual Tape Library (VTL) solution for its Headquarters' (HQ) IBM z9 mainframe processor. The solution shall replace the RRB's IBM 3494 ATL Virtual Tape Server (VTS) with a Virtual Tape Library (VTL). The data would be formatted minimally as any currently supported compatible mainframe IBM tape cartridge. The existing ATL will remain to write encrypted Disaster Recovery tapes using current technologies (as listed under the section Mainframe Background above) which will be transported to the RRB's offsite facility. Although the data resides on VTL disk at the RRB, it is kept in tape format. The agency seeks to redue its Recovery Time Objective (RTO) to less than 24 hours for mainframe recovery. As an option, the RRB seeks a solution for remote mainframe VTL configuration to the RRB's Disaster Recovery site within a fifty (50) mile radius that will work seamlessly with the RRB HQ Mainframe VTL Solution. Additionally, the Remote Mainframe VTL Solution must incorporate the encrypted Disaster Recovery tpaes. The data at both sites would be formatted as any currently supported compatible mainframe IBM tape. Data would be encypted and transmited to designated disaster recovery location and then stored on the Remote Mainframe VTL Solution daily. This solution must encrypt data in flight and at rest o the remote site solution. Although the data resides on VTL disk at the RRB and designated disaster recovery location, it is kept in tape format. The provided solution must work with the designated disaster recovery's mainframe processor and operating system. The solution must allow for the RRB's current use of Innovations' FDR software to write simultaneously to the proposed solution and the RRB's ATL Native 3590E tape drives. The proveded solution must work with the RRB's mainframe processor and operating system.
