Description
The United States House of Representatives (House), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), House Information Resources (HIR) requires contractor support to provide on-site information transport services (ITS) engineering and computer aided design (CAD) services in support of the House's low voltage infrastructure system. The Contractor's staff will participate in all aspects of the cabling process, including collecting requirements and developing scopes of work, creating cabling designs, managing projects, performing quality assurance evaluations, and updating and maintaining documentation. HIR maintains a campus-wide communications infrastructure that serves the entire House side of the United States Capitol complex, consisting of over 5 million square feet of office space and spanning three main House office buildings, the House side of both the United States Capitol and the Capitol Visitor Center, as well as numerous annexes and support buildings and garages. Each building poses unique and varying challenges because of the mission-critical nature of the work and the historical and architectural significance of the facilities. The campus infrastructure consists of both fiber optic and copper cabling. Because of the size and variability of both the buildings and the networks served, a wide range of cable types exist within the infrastructure, to include single mode, 50 µ m, and 62.5 µ m fiber optic cables, and Categories 3, 5, and 6 UTP, as well as copper multi-pair cables. Additionally, the House provides limited support for other applications, such as A/V, Distributed Antenna System (DAS), and security systems, that require other cable types to be installed. The complete solicitation may be downloaded from the House web site Procurement Opportunities page at: http://www.house.gov/content/vendors.
