Description

THIS IS A TOTAL 100% SERVICE DISABLED VETERAN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS (SDVOSB) SET-ASIDE. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Central Iowa Health Care System, Des Moines, Iowa intends to issue an Invitation For Bid (IFB) to award a single, firm fixed-price contract to provide all tools, materials, equipment and labor necessary for completion of general construction project 636A8-13-009, "Replace Fan Coils and Convectors, Phase I", at the Iowa City VA Health Care System, Iowa City, IA, in accordance with the drawings and specifications. This project includes, but is not limited to, the construction of a new central hot water heating system and revisions to the chilled water system to allow for the installment of new four piped fan coil units throughout the medical center. This project will install the hot water backbone that can be tied into on every floor. New fan coil units will be installed on the 6th floor, and partially on the 7th floor, and the old two pipe fan coil units and steam convectors will be demoed. Only two rooms at a time will be turned over to the contractor at a time for two week periods. General Construction includes, but is not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical work, new walls and interior finishes, new plumbing fixtures, and removal of existing site improvements. Work will require 8 hour construction operations until complete. Work is to be completed in accordance with phasing requirements and within 670 calendar days from the notice to proceed. Specifications and drawings for submitting a bid will be available at (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/). All respondents must be registered in the SAMs database (http://www.sam.gov) and complete online Representations and Certifications at (http://orca.bpn.gov), along with Vets 100 at (http://vets.dol.gov/vets100/). Bidders must be registered in VetBiz at (http://www.vetbiz.gov/). Amendments to the solicitation will be posted at (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/). All parties must obtain amendments to the solicitation through this web site. Hard copies will not be mailed. Interested parties must go to the web site to be entered on the Interested Vendors List and/or to obtain copies of the Interested Vendors List. All questions must be submitted in writing to the issuing office via email to (benjamin.smith8@va.gov). Issue Date is tentatively scheduled for May 24, 2013. The Pre-bid meeting/Site-visit will be announced upon Solicitation issuance. Bid Opening Date is tentatively scheduled for June 25, 2013, at 10:30 00 A.M. (local time), in Bldg. #2, Room #2007 at the Des Moines Iowa Central Iowa Health Care System, 3600 30th Street, Des Moines, IA, but exact date may vary depending on issuance of the solicitation. The applicable NAICS Code is 236220, with the applicable size standard being $33.5 million.
