Description
Addition of a 3000 square foot Vehicle Bay for additional and more modern fire fighting apparatus. A storefront system shall be provided in place of the existing overhead doors to allow day lighting to the new office space in the historical vehicle bay. The design is to present a new, more professional entrance into the administrative and supervisory areas of the fire Department. Work areas inside the first floor will be created for proper storage of gear, cleaning of self contained breathing apparatus equipment, decontamination requirements, and personnel locker space. The building envelope will be improved through greater insulation and decreased infiltration in the course of renovating the space for productivity and efficiency improvements. Exterior repairs will include: Repairing /replacing in kind and re-painting the fascia; Masonry repointing and/or replacement as necessary to decrease air and water infiltration; Caulking around windows and openings. Demolition shall include the removal of the wood storage shed complex with it ™s associated utilities located behind Building 29 (east side of building). The Electrical emergency power loads shall be connected to the existing Diesel generator. The design shall provide Circuit modifications to the main power panels in the building to separate critical and non-critical loads for emergency operation. The additional, 3000 square foot single story truck bay shall be constructed on the north end of the building. Domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain will require relocation to allow construction. The design concept for the additional bay is a one story addition with a shallow single pitch roof shedding to a new filtration drip edge. Final design and choice of finishes will be determined by the A&E working through the PWDME cultural resources department. Pairs of overhead doors shall be provided on each end of the truck bay to allow the deployment of four full size trucks without front to back stacking.
