- The US Forest Service is issuing the Sources Sought for the following requirement: The Southern Research Station located in Asheville, NC has a requirement for a contractor to perform associated duties in support of the Southern Research Station in the development of a mobile Web application that provides general as well as specific information on trails in national forests located in North Carolina. The mobile application will feature an interactive map, forest cover type data (based on National Environmental Modeling and Analysis Center (NEMAC) and FIA data), descriptions of forest health issues (based on NEMAC and FIA data), and a search func-tion. The beta version will feature trail locations (based on National Forest System infor-mation that was generated by NEMAC) in the Cheoah and Tusquitee Ranger Districts of the Nantahala National Forest. Objective: Provide a user-friendly, mobile Web-based tool based on latest Forest Service data and trail updates from the National Forest system to help recreational visitors to national forests plan trail trips and learn about forest cover type and forest health related issues. Key Audiences: Recreational users of national forests, tourists, naturalists, etc. Interested contractors will need to respond to this posting no later than May 22, 2013 4:00 pm est.
