******************************************* Update, 16 May 2013 Each respondent selected to participate in the Small Arms Fire Control (SAFC) Industry Day will be afforded an opportunity to meet individually with staff from Project Management Soldier Weapons (PM SW). Further details will be provided upon selection of the invited participants ******************************************* Opportunity to Participate Project Management Soldier Weapons (PM SW) will hold a Small Arms Fire Control (SAFC) Industry Day on June 27, 2013 at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Walk-ins will not be permitted. The event will provide a forum for information exchange with representatives from the DoD, private industry (including DoD contractors), and academia on technology developments for enhancing target acquisition and precision targeting for small arms weapons systems (e.g., XM2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle, M4 Carbine, M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System, M240 Machine Gun, M249 Semi-Automatic Weapon, and M2 Heavy Machine Gun). Selected participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with the small arms fire control community within PM SW, ARDEC, ARL, and other Army organizations that support the Warfighter's needs in advancing the Army's optics and fire control modernization strategy. This RFI is in accordance with FAR 15.201 and is specifically for future advancement and emerging technologies that would significantly impact small arms fire control systems. This is not a solicitation or request for contractual offers. RFIs are used to gather information from industry without any promise of a current or future contract or requirement. Information provided cannot be used to create a binding contract. Respondents to this RFI will not be reimbursed for the information they provide to this request. Interested participants are requested to follow our submission guidelines to minimize expending extensive effort in preparing a proposal that will not be considered or submitting unneeded proprietary information. All proprietary information will be safeguarded in accordance with FAR 3.104. Submission Instructions Each respondent will submit a proposal in the following format: * No more than 5-pages in length in Word or pdf format including graphs, pictures, and analyses. Documents longer than five (5) pages will not be considered. * Page size shall be 8.5x 11 inches; font size shall be 12 point. * Cover page and table of contents, if included, will not be included in the page count. Include the following information at minimum: * Clearly identify the tactical benefits of your quote mark current quote mark SAFC R&D effort when integrated to a small arms weapon platform. * Identify the technical and programmatic risks you foresee in completing your design and include your program plan, timeline, testing, and current design level effort. * Provide company name, address, size of business (large/small), and point of contact with telephone number and email address. Based on the information provided, your company may be selected to participate in the SAFC Industry Day event and will have the opportunity to collaborate with small arms fire control community within PM SW, ARDEC, ARL, and/or Army requirement community that currently supports the Warfighter's needs in advancing Army's optics/fire control modernization strategy. Interested respondents are requested to submit the applicable information to Holly Gregg, via email at holly.c.gregg.civ@mail.mil. No phone calls will be accepted at this time. Responses are requested to be submitted by 10 June 2013. This is a special notice only and is for planning purposes only.
