Contractors are required to sign and date this amendment and return 2 copies with their signed proposal. Amendment 2 posted on 5/3/13: The purpose of this amendment is to respond to questions relative to the solicitation as follows: 1) Question: In the project manual on the page entitled "Contract Price Schedule" it lists Bid Option 2, Bridge 1 and Bid Option 2, Bridge 6. Should one of these be Bid Option 1? Answer: Bridge 1 is Option 1 and Bridge 6 is Option 2. See revised Contract Price Schedule attachment. 2) Question: On the Individual Construction Cost Proposal provided with the original bid documents, bid item #518.60 and 518.70 both have a unit of SF. Bid item #518.61 has a unit of CY. Please confirm this is the correct unit for bid item #518.61. Answer: #518.61 is cubic yards. #518.60 and 518.70 are square feet. Reference the cited ME DOT Specification 518, pages 5-110 and 111 for pay units of measure. 3) Question: On Sheet #S1, General Note 15 states that Acadia National Park will supply the new shoulder aggregate material for the contractor to install. Will the Park be delivering this material to each bridge as requested by the Contractor and co-ordinated with the Contracting Officer, or will the Contractor need to load and truck the materials themselves from Park stockpiles (similar to the crushed stone aggregate/loam blend noted in General Note #19 on the same sheet)? Answer:The plans have been revised to redefine "Rehabilitate Existing Shoulder" as uncovering any existing bridge drains and regrading disturbed areas of shoulders with the removed material. Additional material is no longer required for this work. Delete original plans from solicitation and Amendment 0001 and insert revised plans, pages 1-12, dated 5/13/13 as attached. 4) Question: Sheet S5, Bridge Rail Replacement Note #1 states that the timber rails shall be Grade 1 or better cedar. Specification section 06 14 20, 2.1.B states that the timber rails shall be Commercial Grade 2 or better. Please clarify the correct timber rail grade. Answer: Revise Specification section 06 14 20, 2.1.B to state that the timber rails shall be Commercial Grade 1. 5) Question: Sheet S9 indicates "Reset bank stabilization stones to restore full stream width" as an item for the South bank at the West end of the bridge. There is a cut through the section indicating Section B-B as representing the work required. Section B-B includes the following note: Place item 610.08, Plain Riprap. The Construction Cost Proposal form for Bridge #4 does not have this item on it. Please clarify how this work is to be shown in the proposal. Answer: Delete Construction Cost Proposal Sheets 1-6 from the original solicitation and in place thereof, insert revised Construction Cost Proposal Sheets 1-6. 6) Question: Sheet S6 indicates "Reset 4'0" +/- deep existing heavy riprap" as an item for the South bank at the East end of the bridge.
