- Notice Type: Sources Sought Synopsis: This announcement constitutes a Request for Information (RFI) only by the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center, Product Manager Force Sustainment Systems (PM FSS), Natick, MA to conduct a market survey to assess industries' current capabilities for potential in heating military tents in the field in various theatres of operations. This RFI does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that PM FSS will take procurement action in this matter. Any information provided does not constitute a proposal, but will be considered an exchange of capabilities and ideas. Neither Product Manager Force Sustainment Systems (PM FSS) nor the Government will be responsible for any cost incurred in furnishing this information. Some of the desired heater attributes include, but are not limited to, the following: A lightweight, portable, multi-fuel, forced hot air heater that operates outside military tents and provides hot air recirculation (via flexible air ducts) for soldiers, supplies and equipment in personnel shelters and maintenance tents for a variety of field applications; provides a maximum heat output in the 200 Kbtu range with an ability to reduce output significantly to heat small tents as well; operate on diesel and JP-8 fuels; single switch start up and controlled operation by a remote control located inside the tent; completely automatic safety and temperature controls; equipped with an internal fuel tank to provide a minimum of 12 hours of continuous operation on high fire and have the capability to operate on an external fuel supply; a protective enclosure designed to withstand extreme environmental and field conditions; capable of operation in NBC environments and altitudes up to 12,000 feet without degradation of heat output; forkliftable and have handrails/handles to support local movement and positioning; stackable up to 3 units high. All interested firms and manufacturers, regardless of size, may respond to this request for information. Information submissions can include product literature and illustrations, relevant company background/experience and a response to the questions in the table below. Information submissions must be received NLT 30 days following posting of the RFI.
