Description
VIAFLO 96 BASE UNIT 1250 UL 96 HEAD SHIPPING ASSISTED ELECTRONIC FLEXIBLE 96-CHANNEL PIPETTOR MINIMUM ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS: VIAFLO 96 BRAND NAME OR EQUAL. A compact and ergonomically designed 96-channel pipettor is required for dispensing 500 to 5000 ml of infectious virus into 0.6 to 1.25 ml sized aliquots (cryovials). The cryovials are configured in a rack of similar size and dimensions as a microtiter plate. The number and configuration of vials within this rack will vary, requiring flexibility in number and placement of sterile tips used by the pipettor. 1. Must be simple to operate. 2. Instrument must be able to be placed into and removed from a biological safety cabinet (BSC) without the need to dismantle either the BSC or the instrument. Dimensions must not exceed 17 quote mark wide, 12 quote mark deep, and 21 quote mark high. 3. Must be capable of accurately dispensing 500 to 1250 l of liquid without exposing the instrument to the product (infectious virus). 4. Must have pipetting accuracy of 2% (or 5 l) and precision of 1.5% (or 2.5 l). 5. Must be capable of repeat dispensing of 0.6 ml volumes at a minimum of twice before refilling. 6. Must be capable of reverse pipetting to minimize effects of viscous liquids. 7. Liquid must be delivered using disposable pipette tips or easily changed tubing. Tips or tubing must be disposable, economical, and certified pyrogen and PCR inhibitor free. Instrument must aid in tip or tubing exchanges as technician will have limited dexterity. 8. Must be capable of working with CAPIT-All automated vial capping/ de-capping instrument using Nalgene, externally threaded 1 ml sterile vials (Nalgene System 100 vials) and specially designed racks. Delivering liquid simultaneously to all vials within a given rack. 9. Instrument and tips, or delivery system, must ensures that all tips are at an identical height and capable of touching-off of liquids. 10. Each pipetting or delivery channel should be independent, and should exclude exclude any cross-channel influences for error free and reproducible pipetting. 11. Due to highly infectious nature of the virus to be dispensed, the instrument must be easy to use, ergonomic, assisting with the tedious task of pipetting but not fully automated. 12. Must not have any sharp edges, use metal or other strong material that can be conceived as a puncture hazard. 13. Must be programmable with easy to manipulate user interface. 14. To limit aerosol, must be able to program tip immersion depth, be capable of touching-off of tip and have adjustable pipetting speeds. 15. Must be capable of simultaneously filling 24 vials within 10 seconds. 16. Weight must not exceed 60 lbs. 17. Must be capable of working at 100-240 volts AC and 50-60 Hz. 18. Instrument must be easy to disinfect and maintain with every use. 19. Must be able to be decontaminated from containment suites using paraformaldehyde. 20. Instrument must be able to be easily calibrated by a US citizen. 21. Reservoir or liquid holding part of instrument must also be disposable, economical, and certified pyrogen and PCR inhibitor free. It cannot be made of glass or other easily breakable material. 22. The reservoir must be able to accommodate 500 to 5000 ml of infectious virus. The reservoir must be capable of uniformly maintaining the liquid in suspension throughout the dispensing process. 23. Flexibility to handle fill volumes as low as 10 l is desirable as is the ability to use 96-well shallow or deep plates and to perform serial dilutions using the same basic instrument. 24. Parts that require removal or installation should be simple to perform and take less than 2 minutes to perform. 25. Must be compatible with current dispensing system.
