Description
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS announcement to be used for preliminary market survey information for planning purposes only. No vendor quotes are being requested or accepted with this synopsis. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR QUOTES AND NO PURCHASE ORDER SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS. The type of solicitation to issue will depend upon the responses to this synopsis. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or any follow up information requests. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of the marketplace to supply and deliver requested specialized trailers in accordance to Forest Service specifications. The type of solicitation to be issued will depend upon the responses to this sources sought synopsis. The Government must ensure there is adequate competition among the potential pool of responsive contractors. The Rocky Mountain Regional Office anticipates soliciting and awarding for the supply and delivery of three each (3) supply distribution (cache van) trailers per the below specifications and meeting/passing all Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections. The trailers will be utilized by the National Interagency Fire Cache to transport various wildland fire supplies to fire incidents across the five state Region: Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Kansas. The Contractor shall furnish and deliver the three cache supply trailers to the fire cache in accordance with the specifications and provisions of an issued purchase order. The National Interagency Fire Cache is located at Building 810 of the Denver Federal Center within Lakewood, CO 80225 and would be the trailer delivery point. TRAILER SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Length: 28' 2. Width: Exterior Width: 103"; Interior Width: 99" 3. Height: Exterior Height: 13'6"; Interior Height: 104" 4. Door: Overhead roller, Opening Height: 98"; OPening Width: 95" 5. Tire Size: 295/75/R22.5 6. King Pin Locak: 36" 7. Anti-nose dive: Two adjustable legs on front of trailer 8. Axle/suspension: Single Axel/Air Ride/25,000LB Capacity 9. Landing Gear: LIftin capacity: 50,000LBS/Low gear 32 turns+1" Travel/High Gear 3.5 Turns=1" Travel 10. Brakes: 16 1/2 x 7 "Q" Type 11. Tire Carrier: Road side mounted tire carrier 12. Side panels: Aluminum w/one door on each side mid to front mount w/grab handle and step. 13. Roof Panels: Aluminum 14. Interior Panels: Plywood w/E-track tie-down rails 15. Interior Protection: 10"-18" Corrigated Steel "SCUFF" 16. Deck: Laminated hardwood 17. Dock Bumper: Rubber 18. Ramp: Ramp 10' mounted under trailer for access to deck 19. Pintle Hook 20. Bumper: Welded 21. Lights: Marker lights, Stop/Turn/Tail, Side Turn, License, 2-Interior Cargo, 2-Rear Spot, and "ABS". 22. Registration Holder: Waterproof-Large enough to hold 8-1/2"x11" papers/Mounted on front of trailer 23. Safety Tape: Red/White Reflective on sides and rear of trailer 24. Color: White 25. Passed DOT Inspections Delivery requirements: within 60 days following award notification. The proposed order will be a single award commercial purchase order. Acceptance of government purchase cards is a requirement for any proposed award. North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code applicable to this acquisition is 336212, Truck Trailer Manufacturing Small Business Size Standard for this acquisition is 500. It is anticipated that award may be based on Lowest Price, Technically Acceptable (LPTA). The estimated solicitation issuance date is June 14, 2013, and the estimated quote due date is to be determined. The official Combined Synopsis and Solicitation will be available on www.fbo.gov following the sources sought and based on obtained market research.
