- STATEMENT OF WORK Motion Picture Cans RQ LSC20130032/COR: DRAFT Background The Moving Image Section requires regular purchase of conservation quality motion Picture film cans for acetate and polyester-based motion picture film. These cans must be ventilated, to ensure proper airflow inside the can, preventing acetic acid buildup, which increases the rate of acetate film decay. They also prevent chemical reactivity between the film material and its housing. The cans help to ensure Library of Congress safety stock motion picture materials are optimally stored, so the rate of decay will be as slow as possible. This allows our material to be preserved and accessed by members of Congress and the public long into the future, in service of the Library's Mission. Scope of Work: The Moving Image Section of the Library of Congress wishes to purchase 7,050 conservation quality plastic motion picture film cans, each capable of storing 2000 feet of 35mm film. These items will be used to house motion picture film (acetate and polyester) material in the vaults as part of conservation stabilization efforts. (Construction), regarding lid fit, is met. • Cans must stack five-high at a height no greater than 8 11/16" to ensure fit on Packard Campus shelving • Cans must feature Library of Congress logo Deliverables: Contractor will deliver seven thousand and fifty (7,050) conservation cans meeting the above requirements.
