- Description
- This is a sub-contracting opportunity at the Westover Job Corps Center. The Westover Job Corp Center is currently accepting bids for Electrical Contract Work for its facility. Please see the Scopes of Work Below: Bids are to be sent in a sealed envelope and marked confidential to: Attention: Purchasing - Cathy Rushford Westover Job Corps Center 103 Johnson Road Chicopee, Ma. 01022 A Walk through for interested contractors will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, 2013. Please call Cathy Rushford to schedule an appointment. Project 85761 (Building 5650 - Center Maintenance) Problem: The majority of spaces throughout the building are utilizing florescent fixtures with energy-inefficient T-12 fluorescent lamps and magnetic ballasts. The light fixtures in the offices are approaching the end of their useful life. Scope of Work: In the maintenance shop re-lamp the existing industrial type light fixtures replacing 4 lamps with 3 lamps. Replace two ballasts with one ballast suitable for three-lamp application. In the storage areas reduce amount of fixtures, utilizing about 12 strip type light fixtures in the large storage area and 2 strip type light fixtures in the small storage room; fixtures to have 2 T8 lamps and wire guard. In the offices replace the existing light fixtures with total of three 2'x4' wrap-around light fixtures, each with two T8 lamps (two fixtures in the large office and one in the small office). For the entrance area retrofit two existing 2'x4' light fixtures. Clean the lenses for all retrofitted light fixtures prior to re-installation. For cost estimating, assume retrofit of (22) light fixtures and replacement of (3) 2'x4' wrap-around light fixtures, each with two T8 lamps. Project 85787 (Building 5690 - Equipment Storage) Problem: The existing light fixtures located in the main storage area are old, deteriorated, energy inefficient HID light fixtures. Three out of four fixtures are not operational. The lighting level in the storage area was measured by a light meter and found to be 9 foot-candles including natural light contribution. This is below the DOL standards which recommend a lighting level of 20 foot-candles for this area. Scope of Work: Replace four existing HD light fixtures in the storage area with energy-efficient high bay T8 fluorescent fixtures. For estimating, assume the installation of (4) 4' chain-mounted (chain length 3") high bay industrial type fixtures, each with three T8 fluorescent lamps and electronic ballast. Fixtures shall additionally have wire guards. Connect the new fixtures to the existing branch circuit wiring as allowable by NEC. Re-wire light fixtures to provide dual switching in the main storage area and provide wall mounted occupancy sensor to turn all lights off. For cost estimating, include the installation of 4 new, chain-mounted industrial type high bay energy efficient fluorescent light fixtures, each with 3 T8 fluorescent lamps, electronic ballasts (ULTRAMAX or equal) and wire guard, 50' of 3 #12 wire in ½" EMT, and small scissor lift for a ½ day. Project 85803 (Building 5902 - Men's Dorm) Problem: There are no night lights provided in the corridors. For security purposes, the center keeps all lights in the corridor on during the night, which is not energy efficient. Scope of Work: Rewire existing corridor lighting such that corridor lighting will have double switching. Every third light fixture should be switched separately from the rest of the fixtures and designated as night lighting. Night light fixtures will stay on longer hours than the rest of the fixtures, which can be switched off after hours. Project 85804 (Building 5903 - Women's Dorm) Problem: There are no night lights provided in the corridors. For security purposes, the center keeps all lights in the corridor "on" all night, which is not energy efficient. Scope of Work: Rewire existing corridor lighting such that corridor lighting will have double switching. Every third light fixture should be switched separately from the rest of the fixtures and designated as night lighting. Night light fixtures will stay "on" longer hours than the rest of the fixtures, which can be switched "off" after hours. Project 85836 (Building 5908 - Men's Dorm) Problem: Light fixtures located in each of six build bathrooms above the mirrors are deteriorated beyond repair, missing lenses and utilize energy inefficient T12 lamps. Scope of Work: Replace the existing fixtures with energy efficient fluorescent fixtures providing two 4' all purpose wall brackets, each with one T8 lamp located above the mirrors in each of six bathrooms. Fixtures should be suitable for damp location. Connect fixtures to the existing wiring. For estimating, assume the installation of (12) 4' all purpose wall brackets, suitable for damp locations, each with one T8 lamp.
