- SOURCES SOUGHT ONLY: This is a Sources Sought request for information to be used for market research purposes, only. The Government is conducting market research to assist in determining the appropriate solution to meet the Government's requirements. The Government is seeking responses from all businesses capable of providing the solution or has knowledge of the industry. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE or PROPOSAL. Responses to this announcement are not considered quotes or offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responses will not be used for evaluation in any resultant solicitation for this requirement. The government shall not be held responsible for any costs incurred in response to this sources sought announcement. Participation is strictly voluntary. This notice will close 18 June 2013 at 1000 AM EST. The Mission and Installation Contracting Command at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, has an anticipated requirement for graduated optical rails that are compatible with the existing Melles Griot brand rail components that are on hand to facilitate optics courses and labs in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EE&CS) curriculum. The specifications for the rail system is as follows: Three rails per lab station, four lab stations (total 12 rails); rails must be at least 16 quote mark long and no longer than 24 quote mark ; rails must be graduated, that is - there must be a ruler imprinted on them in metric or English units for measuring distances precisely between optical elements; imprinted ruler should have marks at 2mm (1/16 inch) increments; and the system should be capable of securing to a standard optical breadboard with 1-inch spaced quote mark -20 (M6) tapped holes. The specifications for the rail carriers are as follows: Three carriers per rail, total of 36 carriers; rail carriers must fit onto the selected rail system; rail carriers must be capable of moving along the rail without the need to detach; rail carriers should be capable of fixing firmly to the rail (ex: thumbscrew); and rail carriers should have at least one centered quote mark -20 (M6) tapped hole. The Government anticipates that Newport brand PRL-24 rail systems and PRC-1 rail carriers will meet these specifications. Respondents shall provide a full description of the proposed solution that will meet the specifications. Feedback on this requirement is encouraged. The anticipated NAICS is 334519 with a Small Business Size Standard of 500 employees. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. Please review the requirements listed below. At a minimum, the package shall address the following: 1. Title of the requirement, Company Name, Address, and POC. 2. Company profile to include DUNS number/CAGE Code, and a statement regarding current small business status to include small business type(s)/certification(s) such as: SDB, 8a, HubZone, SDVOB, etc. 3. A comprehensive description of the proposed solution that meets the requirement described in this notice including product literature. 4. State the lead time (days) for delivery.
