- This is a Sources Sought announcement to identify interest in the Lid and Adapter. Attached is a questionnaire requesting specific information regarding your company's capabilities and to identify production sources for. quote mark LID quote mark - Drawing number 6737410 (attached) quote mark ADAPTER quote mark - Drawing number 6256811 (attached) Description: The lid has historically been machined on both a lathe and a mill to get the end shape. The Lid is constructed out of 6061 T6 aluminum alloy that is produced in accordance with ASTM B211 or ASTM B221. The approximant finished dimensions of the lid are 2 inches in diameter and one quarter inch thick. The surface treatment is a sulfuric acid anodized in accordance with MIL-A-8625 Type II Class 1. The part is then stenciled with ink in accordance with A-A-208 and then packed in accordance with ASTM D3951. The adapter has three CRITICAL characteristics, and has historically been machined on a lathe. The adapter is constructed out of cold drawn AISI 1050 steel that is produced in accordance with ASTM A108. This adapter is basically a cylindrical cup shaped part with a rough dimension of 2.750 quote mark in diameter and 3.875 quote mark in length. The adapters surface is treated with a TT-C-490 Method II, Type 1, and then coated with a corrosion preventative compound in accordance with MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 5, Tectyl 511M. Finally the adapter is then packed in accordance with ASTM D3951. Notice: The Technical Data Package (TDP) associated with the MK12 MOD 3 Polyurethane Plug is classified as Distribution D limited distribution. This TDP contains technical data whose import is restricted by the arms export control act, (Title 22, U.S.C., SEC 27 51 ET SEQ.) or the Export Administration Act of 1979, as amended titled, 50 U.S.C. APP 2240, ET SEQ. Violations of these export laws are subject to severe criminal penalties. Disseminate IAW provision of DOD Directive 52 30.25. Offerors must be registered with the U.S./Canada Joint Certification Office to obtain a copy of the Technical Data Package (at this time only the top drawings are available) (see www.dlis.dla.mil/jcp/ for instructions and information). The government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this sources sought or otherwise pay for information solicited. Participation in this effort is strictly voluntary. The government will utilize the information provided to only develop the acquisition strategy for future requirements. All submissions are requested to be made electronically and shall be made within 30 calendar days from the date of this publication. All information submitted will be held in a confidential status. The government's interest would be 9k minimum to 40k maximum lids and adapters a year with the possibility of four additional years.
