- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Strategic Acquisition Center- Frederick, MD has an upcoming requirement for the provision of meals for students attending the VA Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC) in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to include breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a period of one year with possible one-year options. The NAICS Code for this requirement is NAICS Code 722310 (Food Service Contractors). BACKGROUND The VA LETC hosts on average between 125-200 students per day from across the nation on a year-round basis. During the student's eight (8) week stay, the LETC provides breakfast and lunch to students on weekends and Holiday, and dinner meals nightly. The eventual awardee will provide the facility, labor, materials, insurance, licenses, and equipment required to provide up to three (3) buffet style meals to approximately 125-200 students per day for the entire period of performance to include breakfast meals (morning) on Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays; lunch meals (Mid-day) on Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays; and dinner meals (evening) every day, including weekends and Federal Holidays. Box lunches may be required to be provided under special circumstances. LIMITATIONS "Geographically, the food service establishment must be within 7 miles of the LETC campus at 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock AR, as the LETC uses an existing bus fleet to transport students to and from the food service establishment. "The size and seating capacity of the establishment must offer the capability to serve an estimated 200 students at any one time. "Establishment must have a buffet style set-up, with the ability to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. "Food Service Establishment must be registered in SAM to be eligible for a Government Contract MEAL REQUIREMENTS "Breakfast (Mornings on Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays) oA choice of at least four fresh fruits oA choice of at least two fruit or vegetable juices, including orange juice. oA choice of milk, including whole, low-fat and nonfat. oA choice of at least two cereals. oEggs scrambled. oA choice of pancakes, French toast or waffles. oA choice of bacon or other breakfast meat. oA choice of potatoes or grits. oA choice of biscuits, toast or pastry. oA choice of coffee, and tea or soft drinks. Alcoholic beverages shall not be provided. oCondiments, including butter, margarine, syrup and jelly or jam. "Lunch (Mid-day on Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays) oA choice of at least three hot entrees - including poultry, beef or pork, fish or shellfish or sandwich. oA choice of soup and salad with crackers and dressing oA choice of potatoes or pasta with accompanying sauces or gravies oA choice of at least three vegetables oA choice of breads with butter or margarine. oA choice of at least two desserts and fresh fruit. oA choice of beverages, including water, tea and soft drinks. "Dinner (Late afternoon/evenings every day including weekends and Federal Holidays) oA choice of at least three hot entrees - including poultry, beef or pork, fish or shellfish or sandwich. oA choice of soup and salad with crackers and dressing oA choice of potatoes or pasta with accompanying sauces or gravies oA choice of at least three vegetables oA choice of breads with butter or margarine. oA choice of at least two desserts and fresh fruit. oA choice of beverages, including water, tea and soft drinks. "Boxed Lunches Vendor shall provide box lunch to the VA LETC driving track during week 5 of the VA Basic Police Officer Course. Box lunches would likely be required 6 times per year. Vendor may also be required to provide box lunches during periods of inclement weather that prevents students from leaving the VA LETC facility. SUBMISSION OF INFORMATION All interested vendors are encouraged to submit a response to the Contract Specialist, Allen Smith at allen.smith3@va.gov by 3:00PM on June 21, 2013. Submissions should include a 1-2 page narrative response explaining: 1.The location of the establishment (Name and Address); 2.Socio-economic size status of the submitter and whether it performs work under the applicable NAICS code identified above. 3.The ability of the establishment to meet the LIMITATIONS and MEAL REQUIREMENTS above.
