- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Qiagen, Inc. for the purchase of a QIAsymphony SP System. QIAsymphony SP System (premium) from Qiagen Inc is needed to replace our existing system, Qiagen's Bio-robot M48 instrument. It provides purified nucleic acids used to generate valuable analytical data of isolating HIV genomes and infections. Our assays have been developed using this purification method and reagents. It is necessary to be consistent in our assay parameters to use the same purification method to ensure our method and data are comparable. No other product can replace our existing purification method and Qiagen's Bio-robot M48 instrument. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. All vendors must be registered and active in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to an award of a federal contract. The website is: www.sam.gov. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within two (2) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to Tonya S. Justice at TJustice@cdc.gov by 1:00 p.m. EST on June 20, 2013.
