Description
Proposed Radome Base Ring Plate THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) SOURCES SOUGHT, MARKET RESEARCH. The National Weather Service (NWS) is conducting market research to determine if there are vendors willing to construct and ship a quantity of up to 330 solid metal plates to be used within the base of the radome associated with the WSR-88D NEXRAD radar system. A first article will be required prior to production. Drawing 2100093-101-C is attached to this RFI to assist with the illustration of the plate. GENERAL: Each plate must be constructed out of solid carbon steel per ASTM A36 or equivalent. Each plate will consist of a finished product where all burrs and sharp edges are removed. The finished product must have a powder coating of "SPRAYLAT" polyester powder and use color RAL 9010 (pure white) or equivalent. Prior to powder coating, the process used must ensure that steel is free of any oil, grease, and/or rust. A conversion coating of either zinc or iron phosphate must be applied to each plate. Each plate must be stamped (ink stamping acceptable) with the appropriate drawing number per drawing number 2100093-101-C (supplied with this RFI). The shipping address for first article acceptance will be 1313 Halley Circle, Norman, OK 73069. The designated shipping address for the remaining brackets will be 1313 Halley Circle, Norman, OK 73069. RESPONSES: Responses to this RFI must include a lead time, cost to produce each plate, and shipping costs. This RFI does not constitute an invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals or Request for Quotes. Should the results of this market research indicate feasibility of supporting our requirements, the NWS will require first article acceptance of the bracket before the rest of the brackets are produced when funds become available for this project. This is not a request for proposal and there is no solicitation available. Accordingly respondents will not be reimbursed for any expenses incurred in providing a response. It is requested that all technical questions and all responses to this RFI be sent via e-mail to POC Lindsey Alberts at lindsey.m.alberts@noaa.gov.
