- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), Surveillance and Registries Branch (SRB) intends to conduct a competitive small business set-aside procurement for a contract in accordance with FAR 15 for the purpose of establishing a pilot fibroblast bank for studying cellular, molecular, and genetic parameters of the pathology of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The project objective is to establish a pilot fibroblast bank with post mortem skin samples from persons with ALS who enrolled in the National ALS Registry prior to death. Support provided under this procurement will include executing all aspects of the pilot including how the biological specimens will be collected, stored and shared. This fibroblast bank is intended to become part of the national biorepository of samples, which will be a potential component of the National ALS Registry. Such a bank will make this a more comprehensive Registry and potentially help scientists and researchers to better understand the causes and pathophysiology of ALS. This requirement is a competitive small business set-aside competed under North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code of 621511 - Medical Laboratories with a small business size standard of $30 million. The intended period of performance is from the date of award through five years thereafter. The solicitation will be posted on www.fedbizopps.gov not less than fifteen (15) days after this notice is issued. Interested parties are responsible for checking the website regularly for release of the solicitation and for other procurement-related documents. In accordance with FAR 5.102(d), availability of the solicitation is limited to this electronic medium only. Requests for other copies of the solicitation will be disregarded without notice to the requestor. No telephone requests will be accepted, no solicitation will be available for pick-up, and no walk-ins will be allowed.
