Description
Q&A from 6/20/20131) Who is responsible for construction staking, as there is no separate pay item for this? a. The contractor is responsible for the layout of the job, per 109.05(b), Scope of Payment, Indirect payment. The government has provided 3 control points on the drawings for a professional surveyor to base their shots off of. 2) Why is the riprap commercially sourced? Why can't the contractor get the riprap from the Joshua Pit down the Grave Cr. Rd. from the project? a. The government is unsure what material is currently in the Joshua Pit and advises all contractors to bid as commercially obtained as shown currently in the drawings. 3) Is seeding and fertilizing required? a. No, but the drawings note that the topsoil needs to be removed and conserved during clearing for placement on the disturbed areas after construction is complete. 4) Why is only 20 CY of unclassified borrow spec'd out when the embankment quantities on the drawings are greater? a. The 20 CY are shown as government-furnished from the Frozen Lake Pit and shall be used to mix with any excavated material as needed for the embankments to be built up to the bridge deck. Kattell and Chad Porter feel that most of the material that will be excavated during construction will be suitable for embankment, which is where the remainder of the material will come from.
