Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs has a current requirement and seeking sources whom can provide a Desktop random positioning machine (RPM) system meeting or exceeding the below capabilities. The machine will be used for duplicate simulation of space based conditions on International Space Station to use as controls for space based drug discovery initiatives. Instrument size desktop ideally < 30 x 30 x 30 cm3 Experiment volume up to 15 x 15 x 15 cm3 (max.) Platform, adjustable in height, for mounting the experiment package (mass up to 1.5 kg) 12 slip-ring tracks to the experiment platform (e.g. for power, communication, video) Instrument must be able to be used in clinostat and slow centrifuge modes (? < 120 deg/s ? 2 rad/s) The instrument must be able to operate inside an incubator for control of temperature, %CO2 and relative humidity for the experiment, when required. Shall include PC with installed control software. Shall include an acceleration sensor that can be provided under the experiment platform. This sensor shall measure the accelerations in 3 axes. The output must be displayed on line in the user interface of the RPM. The average g level shall be able to be calculated from the sensor output and indicate the symmetry in gravity nullification during the test. Please forward any capability statements and questions to keith.costantino@va.gov (This is not a request for quote or request for proposal. No offers are being accepted at this point, and this notice is only issued as a sources sought.)
