- Description
- The Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC), Nuclear Treaty Monitoring (TT) Directorate, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, is hosting a " Small Business Open House," on 15 Aug 2013. This event will also be open to Large Businesses. The primary purpose of the Open House is to provide the Small Business community with an opportunity to develop an ''education/awareness" about the mission of AFTAC/TT. The Open House will not address specific projects, and discussion of contracts/finances will not be entertained. No costs will be reimbursed for attending. Large businesses looking to utilize small businesses for subcontracting or teaming opportunities are welcome to attend. The Air Force Technical Applications Center is the sole DoD agency operating and maintaining a global network of nuclear event detection sensors called the U.S. Atomic Energy Detection System (USAEDS). Once the USAEDS detects an event underground, underwater, in the atmosphere, or in space, AFTAC analysts review the event for nuclear identification, and report their findings to national decision-makers through Headquarters Air Force. AFTAC/TT Directorate plans, manages, and coordinates research and development and sustainment for all subsurface and near surface areas (seismic, hydroacoustic, and infrasonic) of the USAEDS and US National Data Center (US NDC) used in monitoring nuclear test ban treaties. The Directorate also plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs mission-area research, design, and development. Coordination is done on reviews, and directs the interpretation of seismic, hydroacoustic, and infrasonic data from ground-based sensors. AFTAC/TT conducts scientific studies and prepares AFTAC program summaries and technical reports. AFTAC/TT serves as the technical leader at meetings, conferences, and treaty negotiations and manages the execution of negotiated scientific treaties and associated protocols. This Small Business Open House will be limited to 50 companies; e-mail reservations will be taken for a maximum of two people per company on a first-come, first-served basis. Date: 15 August 2013 Time: 8:00 a.m. to noon. Location: The Shark Center 84 Harrier Street, Bldg 3655 Satellite Beach, FL 32937 Send your reservation to: Mr. Luis F. Chaves at luis.chaves@us.af.mil NLT noon, (Eastern Time) on 31 July 2013. NO REQUESTS WILL BE CONSIDERED AFTER 31 July 2013. The majority of service support contracts issued by AFISRA/A7KR require a Secret to Top Secret clearance for access to classified materials. However, no security clearance is required to attend this event.
