Description
Peace Corps (PC) seeks experienced licensed and nationally certified nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physicians who have served as Peace Corps Medical Contractors in the past to serve as Temporary Duty (TDY) Peace Corps Medical Contractors (PCMCs) worldwide. Occasionally a position may be open to a registered nurse with highly specialized qualifications. PCMCs are paid contractors who provide healthcare, education, and counseling, and manage the Peace Corps Volunteer health care programs in their countries of assignment. See attached Statement of Work for complete description of responsibilities. TDY PCMC contracts may range in duration from a few weeks to no more than 260 work days in a year. The duration of each contract is determined by the requirements of the post needing the PCMC services. Required Qualifications: Recent PCMC experience within the last five years; Nurse practitioner, physician assistant, physician, or registered nurse. No unfavorable actions related to medical malpractice, state license, clinical privileges, etc in National Practitioner Data Bank. Security background clearance. A background security investigation will be required. The contract award will be subject to the contractor's successful completion of a background security investigation. Physically fit to work in an overseas environment. The contract award will be subject to the contractor passing a physical examination. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration before being awarded a Federal Government contract. Registration can be accomplished at www.ccr.gov **Peace Corps requires that PCMCs have and maintain a current, active license to practice at the level of their credentials. All practitioners must maintain their national certifications during the entire contract period. Physician assistants must also maintain current, active licenses to practice for the duration of their service if the state in which the PA is licensed will renew licenses for PAs practicing outside the state. PAs must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. or the National Academy of Physician Assistants. Nurse practitioners must hold certification from a national certifying organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Desired qualifications: Work schedule and travel flexibility. Basic language skills in the language of the country assigned, when appropriate (such as Spanish or French speaking countries). All applicants must arrange to have the following additional documents sent to Peace Corps: Three confidential professional references submitted directly from the issuing individual. (Form attached) Primary source verification of professional school attended (NP, PA, MD, RN) submitted directly from the issuing institution.
