Description
NAICS Code: 334516 Gas analyzers, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Research and Development, National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Air Pollution and Prevention Divison (APPCD), located in RTP, North Carolina has a requirement for multiple gas analyzers. The analyzers needed are as follows: one (1) heated total hydrocarbon analyzer with methane option; two (2) heated total hydrocarbon analyzers; two (2) heated nitrogen oxides analyzers and two (2) carbon Monoxide/carbon dioxide analyzers. This purchase request is for continuous emission gas analyzers to measure total hydrocarbons (THC), methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NO/NO2/NOx). The instruments will be incorporated into an existing continuous emissions monitoring (CEM) system to expand the research capabilities and improve the data quality of the cookstove research testing. The instrumentation requested will allow assembly of two complimentary CEM stations each having replicate instrumentation. One CEM station will continue to measure emissions from cook stoves under test and the second CEM station will be configured to continuously measure ambient background concentrations. As necessary, the second CEM station may be configured to monitor emissions for comparative analysis or serve as a backup source of emissions monitoring in case of component failure associated with the primary sampling station. Specific requirements per analyzer Total Hydrocarbon Analyzer (THC ? CH4) The following specifications are considered critical and shall be met or exceeded: ?Two hydrocarbon analyzers per CEM station - one dedicated to measuring total hydrocarbons and the other dedicated to measuring methane ?Methane option analyzer must use an internal oxidizing catalyst (methane cutter) technology to remove non-methane hydrocarbon compounds from the sample with greater than 95% efficiency ?Utilize a flame ionization detector (FID) to detect and measure hydrocarbon compounds ?THC analyzer optimized for less than 100 ppm total hydrocarbons concentrations ?Analyzer w/CH4 option optimized for less than 100 ppm methane concentrations ?Multiple ranges ? User selectable ?Auto ranging option ?Response time less than 2 seconds to reach 90% FS ?Precise control of the sample, fuel and air flows via electronic proportional pressure control ?Operate with a 40%/60% hydrogen/helium fuel source (for FID) ?Internal heated sample pump ?Internal Zero/Span solenoid valves ?Auto and Manual operation of Span, Zero and Bias checks The following requirements are considered within industry standards or options for this analytical instrumentation and should be met or exceeded. ?Repeatability: within 1% FS ?Linearity: within 1% FS ?Noise: less than 1% FS ?Zero & Span Drift: within 1% FS per 24 hour ?Zero & Span adjustment via front panel ?Ability to operate continuously in either the total hydrocarbon or methane only mode of operation (if configured with the methane option) ?User selectable ranges with individual offset/gain factors for multi range calibrations: 0-10/100/1000ppm or 0-30/300/3000ppm ?Digital LED display in ppm (total hydrocarbon or methane) ?Multiple analog output signals: 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, 4-20 mA ? user selectable ?19? rack mountable ?Built-in heated sample pump ?Oven and pump operating temperature of 190 oC ?Remote control of analyzer via TTL logic control ?Serial (RS232) and TCP/IP communication via AK protocol ?Internal data logging of all temps/pressures/voltages/alarms ?Power requirement of 115 VAC/60Hz Nitrogen oxides Analyzer (NOx) The following specifications are considered critical and shall be met or exceeded: ?Utilize chemiluminescence reaction with a photodiode detector to measure nitrogen oxides ?Ability to measure hot/moist emission samples ?Maintain elevated temperature of sample gas proceeding the detector ?The NO2 converter shall utilize a heated vitreous carbon material with an efficiency greater than 98% ?Ultraviolet lamp source for ozone generation ?Analyzer optimized for less than 10 ppm concentrations ?Auto ranging option ?Multiple ranges ? User selectable ?Precise control of the sample, fuel and air flows via electronic proportional pressure control ?Response time less than 2 seconds to reach 90% FS ?Internal heated sample pump ?Internal Zero/Span solenoid valves ?Auto and Manual operation of Span, Zero and Bias checks The following requirements are considered within industry standards or options for this analytical instrumentation and should be met or exceeded. ?Repeatability: within 1% FS ?Linearity: within 1% FS ?Noise: less than 1% FS ?Zero & Span Drift: within 1% FS per 24 hour ?Zero & Span adjustment via front panel ?User selectable ranges with individual offset/gain factors for multi range calibrations: 0-1/10/100/1000 ppm or 0-3/30/300/3000 ppm ?Digital LED display ?Multiple analog output signals: 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, 4-20 mA ? user selectable ?19? rack mountable ?Remote control of analyzer via TTL logic control ?Serial (RS232) and TCP/IP communication via AK protocol ?Internal data logging of all temps/pressures/voltages/alarms ?Power requirement of 115 VAC/60Hz Carbon monoxide / Carbon dioxide Analyzer (CO/CO2) The following specifications are considered critical and shall be met or exceeded: ?Ability to measure multiple gas components simultaneously ?Utilize non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) absorption detection ?Minimize interference gas effects by means of a microflow detector or comparable technology ?CO Detector optimized for less than 1000 ppm ?CO ? Dual range of 0-500/1000 ppm (w/manual or auto ranging options) ?Consideration of dual sample flow or single sample flow ?CO2 range of 0-20,000 ppm (20%) ?Auto ranging option for CO2 ?Optional paramagnetic oxygen (O2) detector in the 0-25% range ?Precise control of the sample, fuel and air flows via electronic proportional pressure control ?Response time less than 2 seconds to reach 90% FS ?Internal Zero/Span solenoid valves ?Auto and Manual operation of Span, Zero and Bias checks The following requirements are considered within industry standards or options for this analytical instrumentation and should be met or exceeded. ?Repeatability: within 1% FS ?Linearity: within 1% FS ?Noise: less than 1% FS ?Zero & Span Drift: within 1% FS per 24 hour ?Zero & Span adjustment via front panel ?Temperature and pressure compensation ?Digital LED display in ppm ?Multiple analog output signals: 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, 4-20 mA ? user selectable ?19? rack mountable ?Remote control of analyzer via TTL logic control ?Serial (RS232), Ethernet and/or USB ports for communication ?Internal data logging of all temps/pressures/voltages/alarms ?Power requirement of 115 VAC/60Hz These analyzers are considered a commercial item as defined by FAR Part 12.
