- The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, other items, and non-personal services necessary to perform Historian and Knowledge Management Support as defined the this PWS except as specified in Part 3 of this document as government-furnished property and services at USSOUTHCOM. USSOUTHCOM is one of the nine unified combatant commands of the U.S. Department of Defense. It is responsible for contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation in the SOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility (South America, Central America, and the Caribbean). The USSOUTHCOM enterprise includes four service component commands, one sub-unified command, three joint task forces, and a network of security cooperation organizations. The Commander, USSOUTHCOM, reports to the President of the United States through the Secretary of Defense. The Office of the Command Historian, USSOUTHCOM, documents contemporary USSOUTHCOM activities for posterity; conducts research for USSOUTHCOM principals on historical aspects of current operations; and engages in outreach missions that advance U.S. interests in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility.
