Description
The Virginia Class Submarine Program, PMS450, has a requirement to minimize the timing interval between missile launches. The primary mitigating factor is the "Cross Blast" of the Gas Generator and Rocket Motor to adjacent missiles. Contractor shall perform and document a Cross Blast Analysis to determine the minimum allowable launch interval of the Tomahawk Block IV All-Up-Round (AUR) aboard the Block III Virginia Class Submarine. The analysis shall specifically address a 15 second interval but also determine the shortest interval for missiles launched within the same Multiple AUR Canister (MAC) or from alternating MACs. The analysis will be multi-disciplinary and address potential impacts by the pressure/vent system, gas generator and weapon control system timing on the structural capability of the Capsule Closure Assembly, effects on missile pull-out altitude and accuracy. NAVAIR intends to award this effort to Raytheon Missiles Systems (RMS), P.O. Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734-1337 (Anyone interested in subcontracting for small business contracts contact Karen Spencer at (520) 663-6934). Because detailed knowledge of the BLK IV Tomahawk Missile is required to perform the analysis necessary, RMS is the only known source capable of accomplishing this requirement in the required timeframe and without duplication of costs. The data associated with the Tomahawk missile is export controlled and is not available to foreign sources or representatives.
